1. Come Prepared
Hard work can go a long way. Even if you aren’t the best candidate, you can compete if you show that you’ve done your homework on the company and role. Tailor your answers to focus on what the company and interviewer cares about. Make sure to prepare insightful questions that show that you’ve done your research.
2. First Impressions Matter
You can never change a first impression, so make sure you’re memorable in a good way! Dress for success – meaning make sure your clothes and hair are all neat and tidy, and make you feel your most confident. It’s better to err on the side of more formal to show you’re taking the interview seriously. Stand tall, make eye contact, have a good handshake, and smile.
3. Be Authentic
If your search has been focused and you’ve found the right role for you, an interview shouldn’t just be about getting hired. It should also be about getting to join an organization where the culture matches your values and you can really flourish in your role. It’s important to be authentic so that the fit between your personality and strengths and the organization’s needs is really clear.
